The hotel is secluded. It was built as a country house retreat for a wealthy family in the 19th century, combining space and light (large rooms, big windows) with a homely atmosphere. The outward appearance is grand while the internal layout is essentially a home. The hotel stands in grounds of five acres on the floor of the River Wnion valley, surrounded by grazing meadow. A private driveway leads to a large car park next to the hotel.
The Hotel is now completely non-smoking.
